1.) Kress is almost telling the reader to view this piece as an educational experience rather than a life experience. He knows there are so many things out in the world that he hasn't experienced yet, and he wants to reading to understand that he's going out in the world (via train hopping) to learn about these places.
2.) I think that this essay is a short part of his entire "exploring phase." As I came closer to the end, I felt like this essay was missing something. Something I would like to call "the ending." He just left me hanging, and I wanted to read MORE, which I guess is kind of the job of a writer.
3.) Most of my education experiences were limited to the classroom; however, I have to say that, as a person, I try to give all types of learning a chance. So, when I began to read this, I was pretty excited. And like I said before, I had hoped to read more.
