RL #2

2.) Bosley shed some light on her feelings toward competition, class, tradition, and media. I actually have to agree with her on most of it. When it comes to competition, even though most of us know when we enter a competition, there is a better chance of us losing than winning. Still, we all have a little hope that there is a small chance that we might win. We take that hope and put it all out there, and even when we lose, we were proud we tried. On towards class. There was a major separation between those who were rich and those who were poor. I deal with that on a daily basis, and we continuously read material that touches on this subject. It is just one of those things that won't change. There will those with money and those without, and they won't always get along. Tradition is also pretty big in the south. With tradition comes a standard. If someone doesn't follow that standard, they are more likely to be ostracized. This correlates with what the judges were looking for in a winner of the beauty pageant. Finally, there's media. The media loves to glorify celebrities and such, which is the same for a beauty pageant.

3.) I have talked on here before of my fear of rejection. That has a little to do with the "pageantry of life." I feel as though there's always going to be the pressure of always being one's best. But there has to come a point, though, where you just look at yourself and go "perfect." Now, no one's perfect. But I think we all just need to realize that we're perfectly flawed, and if we all tried to push against the pressure that comes from the pageantry of life, where's individuality going to go?
